Creation Days, Literal 24 hour days or Just Poetry?

 

In determining if the Creation Days were literal 24 hour days, no stronger evidence can

be found than the deliberate repetition at the end of each day's activity :

"and the evening and the morning were the first day"

"and the evening and the morning were the second day"

"and the evening and the morning were the third day"

"and the evening and the morning were the fourth day"

"and the evening and the morning were the fifth day"

"and the evening and the morning were the sixth day"

If God had wanted to convey six 24-hour days how much clearer could He have done it?

 

Another strong indication has to do with the determining of ratio of Preterites to Total

Finite Verbs. There is a marked difference in this ratio for poetry and for narrative

passages. From this study the probability can be computed as to whether the Genesis

passages are poetry or narrative. The following graph displays the results :
